WTF Friday

Every good blogger has a theme day, right? So here is our first ever WTF Friday. And by WTF I mean “Why The Face”, everyone who watches Modern Family is  laughing and everyone else thinks I’m an idiot. That’s okay.

I am not sure, but I have a feeling that there are going to be some instances during my days in NYC where funny things happen that make me or my friends say “WTF?” or cause us to make weird faces. I will catalog some of those experiences here on “WTF Friday”

Since I haven’t actually moved to New York yet – maybe I should have started this blog a little later in the summer – I am going to use this beautiful Friday the thirteenth to explain just why in the world I am moving to New York City.

I am not, like every person on T.V. or in movies, moving to the big city to “make it big” in any way. Let’s be honest, what would I be “making it big” in? Social work? I’m just going to spend the next ten months trying to make it out alive! So why exactly am I going when there are many other social work graduate schools in Texas?

I have a debt wish, kind of like a death wish but much slower.

But really I am going for the same reason that everyone else moves to NYC. For adventure. Because I’m young and the time is now. So I will not regret anything when I am eighty and every other cliche out there. I am a cliche and that is okay because that is really why I am going.

So now you know why the eff I am schelping my scared little self onto a plane with two suitcases and a very big loan (more ranting about this to come) to move to a city I know nothing about.

On another note happy Friday the thirteenth, today is a day we celebrate black cats, Cesar and the Gregorian calendar. So it’s a day where we celebrate nothing! Happy Friday!

Independence Adventures

Yesterday was my last Fourth of July in Texas ever. Well at least until next year…

I spent the day with my sister Lisa and brother-in-law Michael. We lounged in our pool, roasted hot dogs, played washers, a fun  outdoor game that involves throwing which I am bad at. And a game involving cups and a ping pong ball, which also involves throwing and I happen to be very good at.

We were also introduced to the smallest beer bottle known to man. The 7oz Bud light. Or as I liked to call him: Lil’ Bud:

Not everything is bigger in Texas.

Lil’ Bud had many adventures on this Fourth of July.

Lil’ Bud workin’ on his tan.

Lil’ Bud shootin’ some hoops.

Offered to help with yard work.

Lil’ Bud gearin’ up for our volleyball tournament.

Wanted to build a sandcastle but there was no sand…
Lil’ Bud, big patio.
Lil’ Bud needs a teeter partner.
Lil’ Bud is exhausted.
Overall it was a great fourth of July. Lil’ Bud, Lisa, Michael and I all had a blast, pun intended. To end I will leave you with this awesome picture of myself from yesterday, rockin’ not only America colors but also wearing shorts from 1997, no lie.
Happy birthday America!
