Even though it’s still really cold in NYC today is technically the first day of Spring. (!) As we move into spring I thought it would be fun to do a spring improvement series, I’m going to be deep cleaning our apartment, doing a DIY project, and start working out again. I know y’all are really excited to join me on this journey.

Frozen and Feminism
I have some confessions; first I haven’t seen Frozen. It’s not that I don’t want to see Frozen, it’s just that I refuse to pay $20 for a movie ticket to see Frozen when I could wait four months and rent it at Redbox for $1.50.
The Spurs Beat The Heat
If you were wondering when I would start posting about the Spurs again wonder no more. Mostly I’m coming back to the topic of the Spurs because of the time of year, we’re headed towards the playoffs, and since I’m not really a sports blogger it would be boring for me to write about the whole season. But also this was a GREAT day to start for the 2014 season because we finally beat the Miami heat (!!!) for the first time since game 5 of the 2013 finals.

I honestly hadn’t realized how upset I still was about last summer’s finals games until the other day when Aidan tried to bring them back up and I just kept repeating that I didn’t want to talk about it. And I don’t. But I do want to talk about the Spurs this year.
Timmy is still playing great for his age, we have Marco Belinelli who is turning into a great fit for our team, and we still have some old solids like Tony, Manu, Tiago, Kawhi, Boris, Danny, basically the whole team is awesome.
We’ve been playing well, if a bit inconsistently, the last few weeks and after last nights big win I think this is the win we need to make a strong push in the playoffs. Get excited because the playoffs are just around the corner, and we’re back baby!
The Power of Social Media at the Oscars
Last night, in just over 30 minutes a new record was broken. There was a new record set for the number of RT’s (retweets) of Ellen DeGeneres “selfie” at the Oscars. Whilst it was apparent that this was a plug for Samsung, it showed the power of social media as the public took the challenge of setting a new record. The previous record was set by President Barack Obama when he tweeted “Four more years” after his reelection, this gained 780k retweets.
After around 30 minutes this was superseded by the Oscars tweet with over 800k RT’s to the most famous selfie made.
If anybody was in any doubt as to the power of social media – it showed what can be done in a very small amount of time. As of now there has been over 2 million RT’s. That’s pretty impressive!
