Spring Improvements: Part 1

Even though it’s still really cold in NYC today is technically the first day of Spring. (!) As we move into spring I thought it would be fun to do a spring improvement series, I’m going to be deep cleaning our apartment, doing a DIY project, and start working out again. I know y’all are really excited to join me on this journey.


The first improvement on our list is working out. I have so much respect for people that can work out 4 or more times a week every week for forever. I am not that person. I get on the wagon, fall off, get back on, fall off etc. When I was at Baylor I had a really good workout routine going, I also had really great free workout facilities which didn’t hurt, but since I’ve moved to New York I haven’t been able to get back into a good workout groove. Now though I have a really great motivation to kick my butt into gear. In three weeks Aidan and I will be going on a CRUISE to the Bahamas!

Three weeks doesn’t sound like long, but my expectations are realistic, I want to get a little toned for the cruise, but more importantly I want to begin a lasting workout routine that fits my new life in NYC.

Since gym memberships in NYC are so expensive (think about $100 a month) I’m going to solely do home work outs. I plan on doing a mix of stretching, strength, and cardio for 20-30 minutes at least 5 days a week. I’ve been amassing a Pinterest board of ideas. From past experience I like to mix up my workout a lot to keep me interested, there’s that ADD millennial coming out again, so if you have any ideas of great at home cardio, stretches, or strength exercises you recommend I would love for you to send them to me! I’ll try anything once, and here’s to hoping it sticks, at least long enough for me to not look like a total whale in my swim suit!
